Having been involved in tournament gaming at a professional level for several years there are a number of recurring issues that regularly appear and the Super Series poses some unique new ways to improve the experience for everyone:
We aim to bring the very best cinematic experience to the audience, and the most awesome tactical battlefields for our players at a tournament. Traditionally hard to achieve with a roaming setup at large events, we’re able to optimise our presentation with a fixed streaming space, creating the best boards and set design.
Shifts in the meta of the game can be hard to predict and are often few and far between. Months can go by with very similar lists dominating, creating a less dynamic environment for players and a monotonous experience for viewers. Our Ban Phase adds an elegant level of strategy to the game, while also creating a more varied and engaging tournament scape. Teams take turns to ban a total of 10 units for their upcoming matchup (with a maximum of one per faction) forcing their opponents into making creative solutions in list design.
We’ve always attempted to showcase a variety of players and armies at an event, but the best matchups are those between two well-matched opponents, leading to more entertaining, tactical games. The Super Series allows us to foster an environment where small teams of skilled players come together, with the better teams progressing through the tournament.
Our multi-table coverage is the first and best of it’s kind. Games can sometimes have long movement phases, slow decision making and seemingly never-ending combats. Being able to smoothly transition to where the action is creates a much more fast-paced and exciting viewing experience. Our expert tableside team keep our commentary crew abreast of any happenings at the tables to allow for smooth transitions between games. Our overlays make it clear what’s going on at any time, at any table, incorporating the progressive dice tray system to add real-time, relevant dice rolling.
The Super Series format allows us to control the submission of lists and collect relevant information about factions and players before heading into gameday. We’ll be able to present information and graphics in a totally new way, showcasing the playing styles and tactical depth you’ve been asking for, while also creating the narrative story-telling of individual units and characters that makes tabletop wargaming what it is.
Teams are drawn against each other in the ladder elimination tournament format with one match- up from that round played each week.
On a gameweek, 2 teams prepare to compete over 3 rounds. All 12 exciting games will be covered live and recorded to be watched on demand.
The teams participate in the Ban Phase at the start of each match-up, prohibiting the use of 10 units for the upcoming gameday.
Before each round the teams match their players against the opposition, making best tactical use of the available tables.
All 12 games are covered and a team will come out victorious, going on to compete in the next stage of the tournament.
You'll soon be able to take an even closer look at the specifics of our events and the rules and regulations required for our players when we release our event packs.
